THE NEED/ADVANTAGES

Globalization - Globalization has become the key concept driving the 21st century with Information Technology as its motivation bringing the world closer together, and allowing the world’s economy to become a single interdependent system. This means that we can not only share information quickly and efficiently, but we can also bring down barriers of linguistic and geographic boundaries.

In this regard, there is a need for countries to adopt means to properly equip its current generation especially the youth with the right education to cope with the times and seasons. Ghana for that matter educational institutions and students, have a role to play in responding to this global revolution and becoming established in the global community.

Creation of new Jobs / Wealth - The best benefit of information technology is the creation of new and high paying jobs which further creates wealth. Computer programming, systems analysis, hardware and software development and Web designing are just some of the many new IT related employment opportunities.

Educational stakeholders have a task in taking advantage of this entire dimension of industry with the opportunity that comes with it.

Emerging Technologies: With the upsurge of advanced and sophisticated technologies, there is a need for shared responsibilities among all development partners to play active role in raising a generation of people who can lay hands on these tools to effectively solve real life problems. In realizing this dream all stakeholders especially educationists must adopt strategies to prepare students who can contribute to the information age by equipping them with the necessary skills and tools.
