LTQ Organisers to launch online Radio/TV Broadcast
LogicDrive Development Ltd, organizers of LTQ will launch its premiere online podcast programme. The programme will feature documentary on everyday usage of ICT tools, its application in education and commerce, and relevance to individuals and society as a whole. It will include interviews from experts in specific areas, students from different backgrounds and knowledge areas as well as the public.
It will allow listeners and viewers to interact through comments and post.
The purpose of the project is to create a platform for students at all levels and the general public to become aware of ICT and its benefit, and how it can be applied in different segments of life.
The broadcast will start from 3rd August, 2009 and run through a pilot phase for three months, and will be launched officially in November, 2009.
LTQ 2009 Report
Using Information and Communication Technology as a tool to advance Education in Ghana should be a matter of great concern, to enable our Nation, Ghana position itself as an active player in the league of Developed Nations. This remark was made by Rev Anyani-Boadum (General-Overseer, Jesus Generation Church) who was the special Guest of honor at the just ended LOGicDrive Technology Quiz, an ICT quiz competition organized for junior high schools.
This year’s event gathered ten top schools from suburb of Accra and Tema in an ICT quiz competition at the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, Osu - Accra. The Schools are De Youngster’s International School, Christ the King Int’l School, Mount Olivet Methodist Academy, Ave Maria School, Dayspring Montessori Int’l School, Susan Owusu Memorial Methodist School all from Accra. The others are Marbs School, DEKS Educational Institute, Creator Schools and Life Int’l School also from Tema. At the end of two days of competition, from 19th -20th May 2009, Ave Maria emerged winners, and took away one laptop, mobile phones, books, a website, certificate and Educational Software. Mount Olivet Methodist Academy who came second also took home mobile phones, a website, books, certificate and Educational Software .The rest of the schools took home books, a website, certificate, and Educational Software
In an interview with Mr Benjamin Nortey, CEO of LOGicDrive DEVELOPMENT(LDD) Ltd, organizers of the quiz, he stated that the company is focused to accelerate, enrich and deepen basic IT skills, and help students to relate academics to the practices of today’s workforce. One of the educational software developed by LDD was used as a teaching and learning platform in preparing students for the competition.
He said in the near future other communities and levels of education would benefit from this program and believes that Ghana’s hope will be renewed as we work to deepen ICT education.
The program was supported by EPP books and services, Coca Cola, Abro Media Ltd and Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT.
LogicMinds to be Launched
LogicMinds, a wing of ICT development in schools, a project undertaken by LDD is to be launched this year in November 2009. The programme targets to create collaboration and network among institutions and students, who will share ideas, discover and build their talents/potential through ICT and becoming part of a bigger community of learners and innovators. This will be achieved by the formation of ICT CLUBS in schools at different levels.
The programme will see different schools within Greater Accra Region and the rest of the nine regions of Ghana involved in community project work. It will also involve.
The organizers believe this is a sure way of building leadership in Information Communication Technology among the workforce of Africa’s economy and have expressed hope that Africa’s hope will be renewed through such initiative and many more programs yet to come.
Institutions are therefore encouraged to be part of this global community that is being established.
